Zolak & Bertrand: Celtics Roll Past Cavs in Game 2 (Hour 1)

Jaylen Brown totaled 23 points and seven rebounds to help the Boston Celtics take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference finals with a 107-94 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Tuesday night. On Tuesday night, following a third quarter outburst not dissimilar to one of the Golden State Warriors', the Celtics took a 2-0 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers. But were the first two games more about what the Celtics are doing or what the Cavs AREN'T doing?. Baynes played the final 6:46 of the quarter and finished with four points and two rebounds, once again showing the ability to positively and efficiently impact the game in the minutes he was on the floor.

Smart confronted Smith after the play, which not only got Horford fired up, but got Smart amped up and ignited an otherwise nervous crowd. I passed them all. But coach Tyronn Lue stuck with Smith for 27 minutes, giving just 21 minutes to Kyle Korver, who had 11 points and was 4-for-8 from the field (2-for-5 on 3s).

"It was a good call", Smith said.

Boston's Game 2 win continued a trend in the postseason as they ran their record to 9-0 at the TD Garden in the playoffs this year.

Everyone knew the Cleveland Cavaliers were going to do something at the trade deadline, it was just a matter of how drastically they were going to try and shake up the roster. "You feel good about all of those guys as guys that can make plays in big moments".

Terry Rozier scored 18 points, Al Horford added 15 points and 10 boards, Marcus Morris had 12 points and both Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart contributed 11 for the Celtics, who were 108-83 winners Sunday in Game 1. "That's the amusing part about it, because if Boston beats them, we all know he's gone". It's Celtics basketball. We're really embracing Celtics basketball. But the 2016 Cavs were a much more talented team that this current Cleveland group - and all signs point to LeBron going down in flames this time around, against the Celtics.

"That's not the first time JR has done some dirty stuff, especially playing against us", he said. Cleveland had 15 turnovers leading to 13 Boston points and the Celtics had just six turnovers. They're gooning the game up, and we gotta do the same thing.

As the clock ticked during the fourth quarter, the Boston Celtics had the edge. There were five Celtics offensive rebounds, to none for Cleveland.

Even though he doesn't blame James for the loss, Smith said the Cavaliers are still going to need more from him if the team continues to operate with the same "level of ineptitude" from the other players on the court. Despite the excellent defense, James simply launched a turn around three that hit nothing but net.

"I mean, they [Cavaliers] were our rivals", he said.

Last night's Game 2 was up 71 percent from last year's Eastern Conference Finals Game 2, featuring the same matchup. That being said, Cleveland's margin for error is infinitesimal. It's safe to say Boston is the more talented team, and a better-coached team at this point in the series.
