WhatsApp Will Soon Support YouTube Videos Within The App

Users are able to resize the floating window using pinch to zoom, open the video in a full-screen dedicated page, and also hide the window without interrupting playback by docking the video on the size of the chat. Now we have no use if the feature will also be coming to Android and Windows Phone platforms, but this might change in the future since the Youtube playback feature is in its early developments. The update bumps the app's version 2.17.40 and adds features like pinned chats, ability to share all file types and more. The latest beta update of the app has received some hidden features and in-app YouTube playback is one of them. WhatsApp to Introduce In App YouTube Playback for Videos Soon.

The support for YouTube video playback is discovered by WABetaInfo.

According to WABetaInfo report, this feature will let users to play videos from YouTube in picture-in-picture mode.

This is not a feature that will be remotely enabled, at the moment (so also this may change in future), but it will be enabled with a new WhatsApp update on the AppStore when the feature will be ready.

The feature, should it ever be built out into the main app, will give Apple's iMessage a run for its money. However, it is by no means certain WhatsApp users will be receiving the feature any time soon. This feature was announced only last week for Android and now is available to iPhone users. It is unclear if it will make its way to Android and Windows phones, but considering that it is in testing stage right now, it can be assumed that it'll come to these platforms as well.
