Wells Fargo Reports Online Banking, Mobile App Outages

Wells Fargo customers nationwide are having a hard time getting their banking done Thursday.

In messages on its Twitter account on Thursday, the bank, with 270 branches and 467 ATMs in New Jersey, said it was a "contained issue" and not a cybersecurity event. We're working to restore services as soon as possible. Many also said their debit cards were not working - and they couldn't access their accounts by phone, either.

Direct Deposit on Wells Fargo's online banking system is down on Friday, February 8, 2018, according to customer complaints on Twitter and Facebook across the United States. Wells Fargo staff called the fire department at 9 a.m.to report the incident.

The same month, Wells Fargo blamed a computer glitch for an error affecting an estimated 545 customers who lost their homes. "If you are impacted, please check back here for updates", Wells Fargo stated. KCBS Radio received a report from a Wells Fargo customer in Hawaii confirming the problem extended there as well. The bank has been fined more than a billion dollars for its customer service failures.

The bank has restored the ATM services and mobile and online banking systems are operational with a few exceptions viz. "consumer credit card and mortgage balances, that we are in the process of restoring". "As a result of the fire the servers had to be shut down", reported KULR-TV Montana citing a bank employee.
