Vivo X20 Plus UD With In-Screen Fingerprint Reader Certified

When it comes to the camera, the Vivo X20 Plus UD sports a dual camera setup at the back, with a 12-megapixel lens and a 5-megapixel lens. There's now no word on when the Vivo X20 Plus UD might be released but the appearance of its TENAA certificate suggests that might in the coming weeks, even though it remains to be seen whether the smartphone eventually makes its way outside of China. It launched the Vivo X20 Plus a year ago as its flagship smartphone, with specifications that include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 system-on-chip, a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM paired with 128GB of storage, dual rear cameras with a 12MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture and 5MP camera, and a 3,900mAh battery. TENAA's listing for the handset also revealed the X20 Plus UD's full specs. The Vivo X20 Plus UD is similar to the standard Vivo X20 Plus, with the major exception being the fingerprint sensor.

The Vivo X20 Plus UD will be the very first smartphone to be released commercially with an in-display fingerprint scanner from Synaptics. Besides Vivo, Samsung and Apple are both reportedly pushing hard to implement in-screen fingerprint readers into their upcoming smartphones meant to be released in 2018.

Rumor has it the Vivo X20 Plus UD will cost the rough equivalent of $575 (3,698 yuan) in China, which is only slightly more than the regional retail price of an X20 Plus that offers half the aforementioned internal storage space.

"According to TENAA, the Vivo X20Plus UD will have a 6.43" 20160 x 1080 OLED display. The major thing is that it uses an OLED panel instead of an LCD one because an in-screen scanner would need the former and will not work on the latter. The Primary Camera on the device has f/1.8 aperture.

There is a 12-megapixel front camera for selfies with f/2.0 lens.

The handsets run FunTouch OS-based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The company has announced that its Clear ID FS9500 fingerprint sensor received "Best of Show' recognition from numerous online news outlets including Android Authority, Android Central, Digital Trends, Tech Radar, TechnoBuffalo, and Toms Guide". The likely color options are Black Gold, Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Matte Black.
