"On Monday, she and other activists will lead protestors in a counter rally to the president's gathering that will include former congressman Beto O'Rourke, local leaders, taco trucks and teams of mariachis playing Bob Marley's 'Get Up, Stand Up'".
O'Rourke spoke Monday at a baseball stadium across the street from the arena from where President Donald Trump was promoting his U.S. -Mexico border wall.
Trump supporters also gathered in protest of the march organized by O'Rourke, with up to 1,000 counter-protesting the protestors, perhaps evening out the number of attendees to both events.
O'Rourke says, "The judgment of history is looking back at this moment".
In a taped interview with Oprah Winfrey in NY, O'Rourke, 46, appeared to be leaning toward a 2020 campaign for the White House but said he would make his decision after consulting his wife and three children.
Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas), who is considering a 2020 presidential bid, declared during a speech at the anti-Trump rally, "We know that walls do not save lives". And he has 200 people, 300 people.
The American Veterinary Medical Association says almost 57 per cent of USA households owned a pet at the end of 2016.
'A young man who's got very little going for himself except a great first name, ' the president said of O'Rourke. Ted Cruz, has yet to announce his intentions to run for president.
The first duelling rallies of the 2020 election season were set to serve as a preview of a heated years-long fight over the direction of the country. Both FBI and local law enforcement statistic show El Paso has consistently been among the safest cities in the USA even before the wall went up.
"I understand our competitor has a line, too, but it's a tiny little line", Trump said of O'Rourke's rally.
He appeared impressed Monday night while describing the drug-detecting abilities of German shepherds that work for the U.S. Secret Service, but he also made it abundantly clear that he can get by in his daily life without the slobbery canine companionship that many of his predecessors welcomed. They know that when Democratic leaders like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer say they are for strong border security, they don't really mean it. O'Rourke is either smart enough or guileless enough to actually just come out and say what he really thinks, that we should have less border security, not more.
"The only threat to our border community is Donald Trump's lies", the group continued as Trump falsely claimed that violent crime in El Paso has declined because of a fence along the border. "You don't have to be indoctrinated by these loser teachers that are trying to sell you on socialism from birth".
The president is expected to make the argument for his border wall at the rally in the border town he's pointed to as an example of the success of border enforcement.
"I can't say I'm happy, I can't say I'm thrilled", Trump said of the compromise.
So it seemed only natural that the president would discuss the possibility at his El Paso rally.
O'Rourke, who surprised many in 2018 with a spirited but failed run to unseat Sen. The crowd roared in agreement.
Trump's slam of his possible 2020 rival comes after the El Paso Fire Department late Monday denied the president's claim that officials gave him special permission to pack more people in to his rally than the El Paso County Coliseum allowed.
