Toyota is planning to bring Alexa to some of its US-bound cars this year.
Toyota has joined a growing group of companies that are jumping onto the Alexa train and plans to add the voice assistant to all models that have the Toyota Entune 3.0 App Suite and Lexus Enform App Suite 2.0 in 2018.
Toyota said on Tuesday that it will be deploying Alexa beginning with its Entune 3.0 App Suite and Lexus Enform App Suite 2.0 vehicle system software updates for select 2018 model year vehicles later in 2018, giving USA customers access to Alexa while on the go.
While on the road with a connection to the Internet, Alexa can provide directions, the news, access audio books, adjust smart home settings or a number of other voice-command tasks.
Even, reports are coming that Acer on Monday a press release said that Alexa will come to select Aspire, Spin, Switch, and Swift notebook models as well as Aspire all-in-one PCs starting the first quarter this year. Just like the home version, Toyota's Alexa implementation can also gain skills from third party developers. Google Assistant is being introduced into Android Auto equipped vehicles including certain offerings from Ford, Holden, Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Subaru.
These companies will allow Alexa into their vehicles or integrating the voice service into the connectivity systems that link customers' cars and mobile phones. As you all may know that these both companies partnered in August a year ago to let Cortana and Alexa work together.
