Top HMD exec purportedly refutes Nokia 8 United States launch speculation

HMD Global, the company that owns exclusive rights to Nokia mobile brand, has reportedly started rolling out Android Nougat 7.1.2 update to Nokia 6 smartphone. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM.

Previously, HMD Global assured that it would regularly roll out latest Android and security updates for at least two years. In terms of other components, speculation has it that the Nokia 9 will boast a 5.5-inch display with QHD resolution. If this is indeed the Nokia 9, it will mark Nokia's entry into the bezel-less or thin-bezel market. On Friday, the Finnish telecom company has another high-end Nokia in the works, the Nokia 9.

Nokia 9 has been speculated for a long, even before the launch of the Nokia 8 in August. Numerous idea pictures of the leader smartphone have been released on the web, and now new renders of the Nokia 9 substantiate past holes.

On the camera front, the smartphone flaunts a 16-megapixel camera with PDAF, 1.0um sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash.

We all know that Nokia is one of the fastest when it comes to updating it's Smartphones to the latest Android OS. Weighing 665MB it is an over-the-air update. The biggest take away from the renders is the removal of the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack from the device. The update is now rolled out over-the-air (OTA) and will reach all Nokia 6 handsets over the next few days. As of now there are no details if the Nokia 2 will also run on Android Oreo.

The Nokia 8 comes with a Dual-Sight video to be live-streamed natively and in real-time to social feeds such as Facebook and YouTube.
