'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' First day box-office collection

Taking the two day collection to Rs 28.7 crore net approx (287 million). It has become a belief in the masses that if it's an Akshay Kumar starrer movie, then it is destined to be a good film. However, Akshay's film witnessed decent footfalls in the theater on its first day of release itself.

Interestingly, the excellent collections of "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha" has finally come as a breath of fresh air and has ended the ongoing dryspell of the India box office after the stupendous earnings of SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali: The Conclusion" early this year.

This is exactly what should help the film since neither the reviews nor the word of mouth has bordered into a negative zone.

The movie Toilet Ek Prem Katha has been made in the budget of Rs. 18 crore and on its first day at the box office in India it has collected Rs. 13.10 crore. Let us all wait to see if Akshay Kumar breaks this jinx or not.

While yesterday the movie's earnings were less than Imtiaz Ali's Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer film, Jab Harry Met Sejal (JHMS) that released on August 4, the former has beaten the latter on the second day. It garnered positive reviews from the critics due to a strong message and powerful storyline.

The film has been directed by Shree Narayan Singh. It revolves around the story of a new bride who leaves home in the absence of a proper toilet and how her husband fights for the same to get her the facility amid protests from the family seniors, especially men.

"Akshay Kumar has long moved from his romcom hero days towards meaningful cinema where audience expects watchable content from the actor " said film trade analyst Atul Mohan.
