Time Test set for Eclipse run after change in conditions

With organisers previously sweating over the testing conditions for the upcoming Coral Eclipse at Sandown this weekend, a change to the weather forecast now looks likely to provide runners with good ground to compete on. Course clerk, Andrew Cooper, had previously warned that further rain could cause havoc at Sandown, however trainers are now preparing to enter their prized assets as a result of such changes.

Time Test is the 7/2 second favourite with bookmakers Coral for the famous race, with trainer Roger Charlton stating that he has every intention of giving the four-year-old a crack at success. Despite missing out on the Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, as well as only having started one race all season, Time Test provided a timely reminder of his credentials with a win in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Esher in May. By taking a look at the favourites at Coral, you will see that French 2,000 Guineas winner The Gurkha is currently the 11/10 favourite. Aiden O’Brien has expressed his intention to run his horse at Sandown, and after The Gurkha could only manage a second place finish at the recent St James’ Palace Stakes at Ascot, will be looking to go one better this time around with conditions suiting the three-year-old.

Elsewhere in the racing world this summer, events at Goodwood provide horse racing fans with another opportunity to back their favourites in the horse racing odds from Coral. The Qatar Stewards Cup is one of the biggest races at Goodwood next month, with recent Wokingham frontrunners Outback Traveller and Brando looking set to do battle once again. The duo are among the favourites for the race with Coral, in a race that has already received 115 entries to date. Despite the vast amount of interest, just 28 runners will line up on race day.

Also at Goodwood, supporters will be excited by another potential run for the in form Profitable. The four-year-old has been a revelation so far this season having won the Palace House at Newmarket, the Temple Stakes at Haymarket and the Kings Stand at Ascot. The Clive Cox trained horse is the current favourite in the horse racing odds with Coral to claim yet another famous victory.
