This new PS4 is a translucent blast from the past

The limited-edition DualShock 4 will also be available separately for $64.99. In this age of massive digital games, having 2TB of storage at your disposal is a lovely thing - it's just a shame we don't see this storage option more often.

Few companies enjoy a limited edition anything more than Sony enjoys a limited edition PlayStation, and the Japanese company is at it again. Even the packaging of the device is translucent and matches the design of the limited edition console.

Sony is celebrating the milestone of 500 million PlayStation Systems sold with a 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro. To put a finer point on it, Sony has sold 525.3 million PlayStation consoles around the world, which is no small task. As a "thank you" to the fans, Sony will be producing 50,000 units of this PS4 Pro. A 500 Million limited edition Gold headset featuring that same dark blue translucent color will also be around for $99,99, but both of these devices will only be available in limited quantities. Each system features a commemorative copper plate on the front, and etched on it is the limited edition serial number. The console will also come with a 2TB hard drive for the first time. It will be $499.99 USD/$639.99 CAD/€499.

"Extra Special" serial numbers like 09995, which is the U.S. launch date of the original PS, will be available.

In the United Kingdom you'll be able to pre-order the limited-edition console, gold headset, and wireless control online from 10am on August 14 at Amazon, Game, Smyths Toys, ShopTo, Currys PC World and Very.
