The Google Assistant Ride 360° Tour at CES 2019

Google Assistant is gaining several new features and integrations, many of which have been requested for a while.

This news was announced alongside that the Assistant now works with over 1,600 home automation brands and on more than 10,000 devices.

"This is native integration with Google Assistant itself; it should be a lot more seamless, a lot faster", Lacey said.

Google is going all in on its AI assistant.

Travelers can save and retrieve their boarding pass using their phone, and Google Assistant will send a notification when the plane is ready for boarding. It will be initially available for domestic flights with United Airlines in the US.

What stood out most to me during my brief demo was just how much Google has been able to simplify the complex task of interpretation.

Earlier this year, Google launched the Home Hub that's basically a voice-activated touchscreen mounted on top of a stand and can play YouTube videos, show recipes and handle other common commands like showing the weather, traffic updates and more. You just need to say, "Hey Google, check in to my flight"- all will be taken care of. Buckle up and hop aboard the Google Assistant Ride! If your handset is locked, though, you have to unlock it before the Assistant responds to you.

In Android, Google Assistant works with messaging systems such as SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, Hangouts, Viber, Telegram, Android Messages and others.

That ability to read out and reply to texts will come in handy now that you can access Google Assistant from the Google Maps app, hopefully reducing the risk of distracted driving.

Google Home devices will soon be able to help you have a conversation in different languages. There are no details as to which older speakers will be updated to include Google Assistant support but our fingers are crossed for all Sonos owners.

In its bid to make Google Assistant an even dominant platform, the Mountain View company has announced that it is launching a preview of its new Google Assistant Connect platform that will allow the device manufacturers to easily integrate the Assistant in their products.
