Wild, who is playing as an individual at the NCAA Championship, carded a 3-under-par 69 on the Par-72, 6,190-yard course, which ties the school record for lowest round by an individual at the NCAA Championship.

As a team the Bears finished in 3rd, comfortably advancing (Top-five advance) with a team score of 7-under par.

Auburn shot -3 for the week at the Jimmie Austin OU Club and ended in a tie for fourth at the regional with No. 15 Arkansas. Florida State was sixth at 862. Thomas Walsh, Danny Walker and Ashton Poole of UVa were among those tying for 12th place with a 2-under 214. I don't think we played our best golf, but I'm okay with that.

The Raleigh Regional included eight teams listed among the nation's top 50 of the Golfstat rankings, including (in order of seed) California (9), Texas (16), Arizona State (21), Duke (28), NC State (36), Liberty (40) and Missouri (45).

As drivers go, the one that will take the Baylor men's golf team back to the NCAA Championships is the Bears' favorite in the bag. Texas, Duke, North Carolina State, Augusta and Arizona State advanced, as did Pontus Nyholm of Campbell.

But on the par-3 16th hole, which Phillips parred the first two rounds, the Huntsville native sunk a birdie, while Redman and Smith bogeyed.

Baylor head coach Mike McGraw said he was pleased that his team played well enough to not really have to sweat out their qualifying status. He was on track to advance to the NCAA Championships until a double bogey at No. 17 and a bogey on the final hole left him short of moving on.

The Division III Men's Championships is the latest in a line of prominent golf events headed to the Triad this year.

Virginia Tech was recognized in baseball; women's golf; women's tennis; and women's track and field.
