Seth Meyers slams "culture of systemic misogyny and male entitlement"

The former "Saturday Night Live" cast member then pivoted to the president's own history with sexual harassment accusations, and the fact that during his campaign, 12 women came forward to accuse him of misconduct.

MacFarlane was introducing the candidates for best supporting actress when he said: 'Congratulations, you five ladies no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein'. "She has since courageously come forward to speak out", said MacFarlane. MacFarlane has since explained that the joke "came from a place of loathing and anger", since his friend, the actress Jessica Barth, had confided in him about an encounter she had with Weinstein.

Despite the media's current stronghold on coverage of sexual harassment and assault allegations against Weinstein, according to news coverage at the time, the line didn't receive as much as a batted eyelash.

The 65-year-old movie mogul is facing a number of sexual assault allegations which have emerged over three decades, with actresses Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan among the accusers.

Barth, like others in the article, alleges that she was invited under the guise of a business meeting to Weinstein's hotel room, where she says he proceeded to demand a naked massage.

"At first he started talking about career stuff, and how he wanted to fly me to NY and give me a role in Sarah Jessica parker's new film", Barth recalled on CNN's "New Day" morning show.

MacFarlane goes on to call Weinstein's actions "abhorrent and indefensible", categorizing them as "an abuse of power". "I respect and applaud my friend Jessica and those sharing their stories for their decision to come forward, and for being champions of the truth".

As it turns out, many more Hollywood types knew about the allegations made against disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein than previously believed. I sat down with my wife Georgina, who I love more than anything, and we discussed what was best for our family. "Dinosaurs don't learn new ways, they go extinct", Meyers said, adding, "If you're a dinosaur then this is your ice age, buddy, and unlike real dinosaurs, no one is ever going to try to bring back Harvey Weinstein".
