Russell Wilson to join Yankees for spring training

While it appears less and less likely that Manny Machado will don the iconic navy blue pinstripes, another slick-fielding infielder will indeed head to George M. Steinbrenner Field in a little more than a month.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will once again reprise his role as the New York Yankees second baseman in spring training next season, according to his agent Mark Rodgers.

Russell Wilson is a Pro Bowler after all.

Wilson reported to spring training previous year and appeared in his first competitive baseball game since 2011. He hit.229 with a.708 OPS in 93 games in the low minors over two seasons.

Wilson was selected to this year's Pro Bowl game after throwing for 3,448 yards and 35 touchdowns this season with a 110.9 passer rating.

The Seahawks were eliminated from the National Football League playoffs Saturday after losing to the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC wild-card game. "If you really know me, baseball's been a part of my blood".

ESPN reporter Brady Henderson, who covers the Seattle Seahawks, writes, "Of all the coaching challenges Carroll has faced since he came to the Seahawks in 2010, this year's might have been the toughest".
