Retailers slash iPhone prices after Apple sales warning

And the word on the street is that the Cupertino, California based company is planning to launch three new iPhone models this year.

According to sources close to the Wall Street Journal, the high-end iPhone 11 will gain a triple camera while the iPhone XR successor will get dual snapper on its back.

WSJ does state that Apple is too deep into the product planning for this year's phones, so the company isn't changing major features like the display on the iPhone XR yet. And now that CES is over we have a report about this year's new iPhone series that seems to confirm the earlier leak, providing additional details about the iPhone XS and XR successors.

As with any rumor, particularly ones this far out, we'd take all of this with a pinch of salt, but it would make sense for Apple to up the number of lenses on its phones, since many rival handsets now have more than two.

Unfortunately, there's still no word on whether Apple will be lowering their iPhone prices this year-which would probably help boost sales more than camera improvements would.

We're still nine months away from the launch of Apple's next-gen iPhones, but the first alleged renders have already shown up online.

Apple is suffering from a maturing smartphone market and the impact of the U.S. Apart from the camera and a faster processor, we are likely going to see Apple debut some AR features with the devices as well.

The report is light on other features of the 2019 iPhones. This means the company's complete 2019 lineup would likely make use of the iPhone XR's Haptic Touch feature instead. It'll reportedly sell the 64GB iPhone 8 for 3,899 yuan ($578/£450/AU$800), compared to the 5,099 yuan ($756/£590AU$1,045) Apple price.

Apple was not available for comment outside regular business hours.

12/11/18: Apple's next-gen iPhones will adopt new antenna technology to prepare for the arrival of a 5G-capable handset in 2020.

"Cutting the price of devices so soon could hurt Apple's premium brand image", Jia said.
