PSG facing injury crisis ahead of Man United match

Coach Thomas Tuchel has said he is "worried" about the injury Edinson Cavani sustained during Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 home game against Bordeaux on Saturday, three days before the side travel to Manchester United in the Champions League round of 16.

Cavani put PSG ahead from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute when, moments later, he walked off before the halftime whistle.

PSG will be without the world's most expensive player Neymar and possibly 192-goal, all-time club leading scorer Edinson Cavani against a revitalized United side unbeaten under its new coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. PSG beat Bordeaux 1-0 to increase its lead in the French league to 13 points over second-placed Lille, which plays on Sunday. Yes it is worrying.

A couple of minutes later Cavani limped off the pitch clutching his thigh, prompting Tuchel to substitute him with Kylian Mbappe.

Lassana Diarra is also still out with a knee problem, while Marco Verratti is a huge doubt.

"Maybe some of the players who have not played too much will play".

"Let's not kid ourselves - everybody is thinking about Manchester, and that is totally normal", Tuchel said at a news conference on Friday.

PSG is already without Neymar - who cost PSG 222 million euros ($252 million) when he joined from Barcelona - for the next two months.

Meanwhile, Verratti lasted just under an hour before making way for recent signing Leandro Paredes, and Tuchel must now decide whether to start the Italian playmaker in England.

Bordeaux had held PSG at home when the teams met in December, but they were undone late in the first half here as Nicolas de Preville fouled Thomas Meunier in the box, and Cavani netted from 12 yards.

This weekend, Argentine striker Emiliano Sala is being honored with a minute of applause in the top two leagues in France.
