Zainab, 7, had gone to a religious tuition centre near her house in the Road Kot area last Thursday (Jan 4) from where she is believed to have been abducted. Her parents were away on a pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The results of the autopsy conducted on Zainab's body revealed that she had been raped and sodomized, likely strangled.
Expressing his views on the investigation while speaking to reporters on Sunday, he said, "The investigation speed has not been hastened, while the police keep giving us assurances that the suspect will be arrested soon". Some media reports suggest that she disappeared while going to a nearby home for Qur'anic studies. "Because I could see Zainab when I looked at her", she said. The brutal incident prompted outrage and riots across Pakistan. All the minor victims were brutally assaulted and killed and then dumped in garbage dumps over the past one year.
Pakistan police on Friday continued its hunt for a serial killer who they say raped and murdered a seven-year-old girl in the Kasur city of Punjab province. While all the girl victims were killed after rape, the boy however survived to tell the story.
On Tuesday, a police constable deputed to trace the girl recovered her body from a trash heap.
The sexual abuse of children has been a recurring issue in Kasur. Moreover, a demonstration was also held outside the Pakistani Embassy in London. According to Sahil, out of the total cases of child abuse from January to June 2017, 62 percent were reported from Punjab.
Zainab Amin's ghastly and tragic end will likely get a few more days of attention in Pakistan, but unless the taboo against informing and educating children is destroyed, rehabilitative services made a priority and investigative resources allotted to the thousands of cases, many more children like Zainab will remain imperiled.
Enraged locals took to the streets in protest, setting fire to cars, forcing the closure of public buildings and demanding police track down the culprit and publicly hang him. "We hope the killer will not only be arrested but also given exemplary punishment". But police has found no clue so far. He directed the relevant authorities to take immediate steps to install latest cameras in Kasur.
The brutal murder of the girl, the 12th such case to occur within a two-kilometre radius of the city over the a year ago, ignited a wellspring of anger among the city's residents.
