The president, who was conveyed by a chopper from Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, landed at Army Barracks Nkwagu in Abakaliki at about 11.15am accompanied by the state Governor, Dave Umahi, who was among other South-east governors who had received him at the airport.
On Wednesday, Buhari will also visit Anambra, another southeastern state where a governorship election is set to take place on Saturday amid threats of violence by secessionists. I am a strong believer in the unity of Nigeria.
"As the most populous country in Africa, with over 300 ethnic groups, our diversity is unique among nations. Our 2018 budget include many strategic projects for the region in roads, power, agriculture and social sector", the president said.
THE Ebonyi State police command, on Monday, warned the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and political parties' supporters against disruptive acts during President Muhammadu Buhari's visit to the state today.
On arrival in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Buhari inaugurated a number of road projects including two flyovers on the section of the African Trans-Saharan Highway that runs between Enugu and Cameroon.
At another event with South East traditional rulers led by Eze Eberechi Dick, the President was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Ochioha Ndigbo (Leader of Igbo people).
