Oh deer! Arby's bringing its venison sandwich to the masses

"That hunt will end October 21, when Arby's Venison Sandwich returns, this time at every Arby's restaurant in America". There are more than 3,300 Arby's locations in the USA but it not known how many sandwiches each location will receive.

Restaurant chain Arby's is offering a second helping of its venison sandwiches nationwide later this month after a test run past year sold out within hours in five hunting-centric states. The meal features a thick-cut venison steak with onions and juniper berry sauce. Like the venison sandwich previous year, the elk burger is being sold at only a handful of restaurants in Colorado, Montana and Wyoming.

The gamey meat might sound like an unusual addition for a fast food chain - even one with a slogan that touts "We have the meats" - but a lot of people sang the sandwich's praises on Twitter during its original release and many locations sold out quickly. The chain's sleeper-hit Venison Sandwich is getting a one-day nationwide release on October 21, which strategically coincides with the start of deer-hunting season in several states.

However, the juicy elk steak sandwich, drenched in a blackberry port steak sauce and loaded on a toasted specialty roll, is only at restaurants in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana.

Arby's is bringing its deer-meat sandwich to Alabama.

Locally, Arby's is at 3608 First St. W., Bradenton, and 5980 Cattleridge Blvd., Sarasota. Like the venison sandwich, the elk meat burger will only be available for a limited time. Chief marketing officer Jim Taylor has a hot tip for people really craving fast-food deer meat: "Get there when we open or a little before", he tells USA Today, then stand in line "just like the folks a year ago".
