Oculus temporarily slashes Rift + Touch bundle to $399

Oculus is slashing the price of its Rift virtual reality headset for six weeks in an attempt to figure out why the tech hasn't taken flight.

For a limited time, Oculus has significantly discounted the list price on its Rift + Touch bundle, which packs the headset and two Touch controllers together.

Oculus is tempting gamers with a great offer on the Oculus Rift and Touch which have been massively discounted in their summer sale.

Others, though, say the price cut suggest that "Oculus Rift is Dead in the Water".

The video spread through Facebook thanks to a good friend DJ Mosaken, whose original post got nearly 53 million views.

When I asked if improvements to the manufacturing process had helped Oculus hit this lower price, Rubin said "there's definitely some of that in there".

Not only is this bundle $200 less than its original $598 price tag, it's also half the price of an HTC Vive. This price is available for a "limited time" and we have no idea when the price will shoot back up.

It is the second price fall conceded by Oculus this year after the package was trimmed to $499 on March 1st. It does, though, put the price of owning the high-end headset on par with its toughest competitor, Sony Corp.'s PlayStation VR.

Industry analysts recall that the VR headset originally retailed for $599 Dollars during its launch and did not even include motion controllers.

If you've been on the fence about the Oculus Rift, now's a better time than ever to dive in.

It's not enough to pioneer a market so brimming with world-changing potential as virtual reality to ensure long-term domination, steady profits and continuously rising sales. Let us know in the comments section below.
