NRA comments on Castile shooting after criticism; says it's 'troubling'

On the video, the officer tells her to keep her hands up and says: "I told him not to reach for it".

An Army veteran fatally shot five police officers and wounded six other officers during Thursday night's downtown protest over the deaths of Sterling and Castile.

"Officer (Jeronimo) Yanez has been completely cooperative with the investigation led by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension", said Thomas Kelly, Yanez's lawyer in a statement.

"He's very upset about this bad tragedy", Kelly said Friday.

The BCA also said that officer Joseph Kauser, Yanez's partner, had participated in the traffic stop. "We will get through this awful time in Minnesota if we all realize that and not take any actions that exacerbate the action any further".

Kim Kardashian, who says she was left "speechless, angry and numb" by videos that showed the killings this week of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, has penned an open letter in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Philando Castle died after being shot by an officer while inside a vehicle with a woman and a child. Choi has spoken out about the video, however, saying that "what is depicted in the video, it just makes you sad to watch all of that unfold". "I don't even feel like myself anymore", he said.

The family said they still have not seen Castile's body, but expect to be able to later Friday.

Dayton has emerged from his residence to talk with protesters several times this week.

One protester, 29-year-old Damond Laurance, said: "It's everything adding up". "That is where I should be in situations like that". "I wanted everybody in the world to see what the police do".

"He said that he could hear noise from protesters from inside the house".

Dayton said he is beginning to draw up plans for how to reduce the chances of police shooting black Minnesotans.

A crowd gathers at the scene of a shooting of a man involving a St. Anthony Police officer on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, in Falcon Heights, Minn. "Despite their portrayal by some, law-abiding permit holders are statistically among the safest populations in our state".

"I have not focused on a special session in the last 48 hours", he said.

But the prosecutor said the shooting highlighted the need for better interactions between police and black residents.

"I told him not to reach for it", the officer shouts. Both Yanez and Kauser have been placed on administrative leave.

And Beyonce urged her fans to contact politicians to "demand" changes, sharing a link to ContactingtheCongress.org, the Louisiana State Legislature website for those wishing to "protest for Alton Sterling", and the Minnesota State Legislature website for those wanting to "voice protest for Philando Castile". "It had to do with the presence of a gun in the auto", Kelly repeated.

President Barack Obama decried the deadly shootings of two black men by police this week, citing a litany of statistics showing blacks are more vulnerable to such violence, but he also spoke at length about the hard work of law enforcement and asked that divided communities try to rebuild trust. "The police respond to those descriptions", said Stephens, a former Charlotte, North Carolina, police chief.

Yanez lives in a two-story frame house on a cul-de-sac just north of St. Paul, where children were playing outside Friday.

Choi said use of deadly force is justified only when necessary to protect the officer or another from death or great bodily harm. She said she wants him arrested and charged with murder.
