Neo Geo Mini Officially Revealed By SNK

A game list wasn't included but based on the images appearing on the units, it looks like we'll be getting a Metal Slug game as well as King of Fighters 97, Samurai Shodown and Real Bout: Fatal Fury Special.

The NEOGEO mini, a video game console celebrating the 40th Anniversary of SNK's brand is announced! The red, white and blue version (which recalls the colors of the Neo Geo arcade cabinets in the 1990s) is for Japan, while the one for North America, Europe, and other regions is blue, white and black.

SNK adds that the NEOGEO mini features a headphone jack and comes with connectors for two extra controllers, which are rumored to be in the style of the Neo Geo CD pads.

The company didn't confirm a release date just yet, nor did it reveal just how much it'll sell for.

The trend for miniature retro consoles is continuing with the upcoming Neo Geo Mini. "The size of the NeoGeo Mini means it fits perfectly in the palm of one's hand".

The system will come preloaded with 40 classic games from the Neo Geo era, although it's not clear if it'll be possible to add more titles. You can play all of its built-in classic games on the Mini's 3.5 inch LCD screen, or you can connect the device to a TV through HDMI.

There's no word on what'll power it or if it'll have a batter at all (it doesn't seem so, and will likely be powered via USB).

The Neo Geo was originally released by SNK in 1990. Expect at least one version of Metal Slug, one Art of fighting, and at least one King of Fighters game.
