A search is underway for a man suspected of fatally shooting four people, including a 7-year-old boy, and stabbing a fifth victim in OH, authorities said.
While Lawless said law enforcement officers had not pieced together exactly what had happened, they had named Aaron Lawson, 23, of 15868 State Route 93, Pedro, Ohio, as a suspect in the case.
When police responded to the home Wednesday night, they found three adults dead from apparent gunshot wounds, the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office said in a press release early Thursday morning. The area where the bodies were found is located 130 miles east of Cincinnati and across the Ohio River from Huntington, West Virginia. Authorities in Lawrence County obtained warrants for Lawson's arrest on three counts of murder and one count of aggravated murder on Thursday afternoon. He did, however, mention that Holston's dog, whose name he thought was Nixon, had been hanging around his property all day with his dogs because it could not go home.
Devin initially was the subject of a missing-child alert after the adults were discovered.
While at the scene we were alerted that 8 year old Devin Holston also resided at that residence and that he had not been seen.
Lawrence County sheriff's deputies found the bodies of three adults inside a house trailer Wednesday evening. Lawless said in a press conference, "We no longer have a missing child, what we have here is a frightful, disgusting tragedy". Following a brief chase, Lawson crashed his truck into a ditch and lost pursuing officers in a wooded area.
The man fled to a nearby home and called the sheriff.
A fourth victim was found in a residence about 1/4 mile north on state Route 93, at a relative's residence. He is expected to survive.
None of the dead adults or injured victim has been identified.
Lawson is related to everyone in the home in some way and spent a lot there "visiting and socializing", Lawless said.
"Lawson is described as being 5'9" tall and weighing 139 pounds.
Police believe they have recovered the gun used to commit the murders.
The sheriff's office had no update on the manhunt Friday morning.
Lawson is an outdoorsman and hunter who liked being in the woods, but "I think he was just plumb worn out from being out in the elements" during a manhunt that spanned two cool nights, Lawrence County Sheriff Jeffery Lawless said.
The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are on scene. That area is around 40 miles southeast from where Devin Holston was killed. In that case, eight members of the same family were found dead in various places in Piketon, Ohio. The Rhoden family murder remains unsolved.
