According to reports from ZDNet, Microsoft's partnership with Ubuntu Linux's parent company, Canonical will allow users to run Ubuntu on Windows 10.Microsoft also praises the store and the universal app platform in the video, so have a look by clicking the play button below, and let us know what you think in the comment box after the jump.
Those were the twin messages from the company at an event in San Francisco last week for developers. Instead, it's Windows Phone that never clicked in a big way.
At its Build conference this week, Microsoft announced the free Windows 10 Anniversary Update coming this summer, one that will add significant capabilities to existing Windows 10 deployments. There are also plenty of deals to go around for the Surface Book accessories such as a $30 discount on the Microsoft Dock straight off the tech company's website.
Microsoft previously said it meant to get Windows 10 running on 1 billion devices two to three years after the product shipped in July.
More recently, Microsoft again pushed updates at Windows 7 and 8.1 devices that prepare them for an upgrade to Windows 10, a seemingly endless effort that has prompted several developers to come up with upgrade blockers, including GWX Control Panel. Microsoft hasn't confirmed or denied the existence of such a smartphone or it being under development. "Please keep in mind that the previous post stating that we support Windows phones was back in the beginning of December of a year ago, and as is the nature of technology things change fast", the GoPro representative says.
The root filesystem of Ubuntu itself was provided to Windows 10 (minus the kernel). People could then use their PCs like Amazon's Echo device, which can be summoned to answer questions about the weather and trivia from across the room. In addition to these, you will find Microsoft's Exchange Server, Office 365, Azure AD and Skype integrated within the phone.
The Windows 10 update will also enhance a feature called Windows Hello that lets people more securely log into Windows using biometric verification, like facial recognition.
