Marlins riding red-hot Stanton looking to sweep Rockies

It will be an emotional night at Coors Field when Bettis takes the mound for the first time since he was diagnosed with testicular cancer last November and underwent nine weeks of chemotherapy in the spring.

After he was hit, Arenado was in considerable pain and nearly immediately left the field and went into the Rockies' clubhouse. I tried to get out of the way, but it hit me. Manager Don Mattingly said he had limited options in the bullpen because of a recent heavy workload, but four relievers combined for five shutout innings. On the other side, the Marlins are a flawless 4-0 in their last four home games, are 5-0 in Worley's last five starts and have won 20 of 27 at home versus a right-handed starter.

Rockies right-hander German Marquez (9-4, 3.88 ERA) has the unenviable task of trying to get Stanton out on Sunday.

Junichi Tazawa (2-2) tossed a scoreless eighth to earn the victory and Brad Ziegler pitched the ninth to record his third save in six chances. He has made six straight quality starts, a record for a Rockies rookie. He had been 4-0 with a 2.95 ERA during that stretch. Guerra entered with runners at second and third and no outs in the fifth but kept the Rockies from scoring.

Jake McGee (0-2) took the loss for Colorado.

So highly, in fact, that he isn't ruling out Stanton hitting 30 homers in the next month and a half.

Stanton lined a 3-2 fastball over the right field fence to make the score 3-all, giving him at least one home run in eight of the past 10 games. Marlins RF Giancarlo Stanton leads the majors with 19 go-ahead homers, which is also a franchise record. But upon video replay, he was called out at first, and the Marlins took a run off the board on an inning-ending double play. Stanton's homer on Saturday was No. 100 for him in his career at Marlins Park. The All-Star slugger reached a couple of milestones Sunday by hitting a homer in his fourth consecutive game, and the Marlins completed their first series sweep of the Colorado Rockies since 2006, winning 5-3. Former Marlins manager and Rockies bench coach Mike Redmond managed Saturday's game for Colorado. The Rockies return home on Monday to face the Atlanta Braves.
