Mariners Log: M's fall to Angels on Segura's ninth-inning error

The Los Angeles Angels will be looking to complete the sweep after winning game three by a final score of 6-3 on Saturday, pushing their winning streak to five games overall.

Mike Trout, 26, a center fielder with the Los Angeles Angels and a 2009 Millville High School graduate, was the 2014 and 2016 American League Most Valuable Player. Two outs later, Cano also walked before Nelson Cruz lined a run-scoring single to left field.

The Mariners went down quietly against Yusmeiro Petit in the bottom of the ninth inning.

That spoiled an outstanding start by the Mariners' Erasmo Ramirez, who allowed an unearned run and three hits in six innings. Casey Lawrence received his 1st blown save while Tony Zych took the loss to fall to 5-3 this season. He walked one and struck out one.

Cron, who had moved to third on the groundout, scored when Kaleb Cowart, the No. 9 batter in the lineup, hit a grounder to Alonso at first base. Ramirez leapt and the ball bounced off his glove. J.C. Ramirez gave up all three runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out four, not factoring in the decision. But Seattle's shaky pitching situation was exposed and the Angels took advantage against the young right-hander Andrew Moore.

NOTES: The Mariners retired hitting coach Edgar Martinez's jersey No. 11 in a pregame ceremony. Paxton was optimistic it was a minor injury, but an MRI on Friday morning confirmed a stint on the disabled list and another blow for the Mariners' postseason chances.

Albers had the 3rd best ERA (2.61) in the International League where he was pitching for the Braves AAA affiliate. He began the season with AA Arkansas where he went 1-2 with a 2.08 ERA in six games before being promoted to Tacoma May 8. Miranda is coming off of a rough outing in which he gave up six earned in just five innings and has allowed four or more earned runs in four of his last six starts and six of his last ten.
