Lee Cattermole urges Sunderland to build on draw with West Ham United

The Hammers conceded a late equaliser at Sunderland earlier today to only earn a point from a 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light and they now have a nine-point cushion over teams in the relegation zone.

Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole has suggested that his side's 2-2 draw with West Ham United on Saturday could be the springboard they need to launch an unlikely survival bid.

It was the first time Moyes had been subjected to such chanting at his home stadium, and the mood could have turned much more mutinous had Khazri not changed the narrative with his goal.

Sam Byram charged down the right-hand side in the fifth minute, with Sunderland's stand-in left-back Javier Manquillo failing to close him down.

Moyes said he was willing to offer more playing time to the 26-year-old Tunisian global if he continued to deliver. The Tunisia worldwide found the bottom corner of Darren Randolph's net directly from a corner - you don't see that everyday.

When you have not scored in 11 hours and 41 minutes of Premier League football, any goal is welcome and it was fitting that Sunderland's first arrived in freaky style.

However, that parity did not last long, as James Collins put West Ham ahead once again just two minutes into the sceond half.

Sadly, their dominance was not to last.

Stoke took the lead in the sixth minute thanks to a fierce Marko Arnautovic strike but struggled to build on it as Mark Hughes' men sought to end a run of four consecutive defeats.

Collins punished the Black Cats with his header seconds into the second period, From there Sunderland began to take over as they desperately looked for any sort of positive result.

Sunderland's top scorer Jermain Defoe has netted 58% of the team's goals in the Premier League in 2016/17, and the second-highest scorer has only three to his name.

The delay meant play was stopped for around six minutes, but when it resumed, Jones' replacement, Borini, fired Sunderland level. He then palms it into the path of Borini who slot home.

Substitute Borini pounced on an error by Randolph to spare Sunderland another defeat, but they couldn't snatch a valuable victor despite Byram's dismissal for a second booking in 10 minutes of stoppage-time.

Subs (not used): Mannone (gk), Djilobodji, Pienaar, Rodwell. Substitutes:Havard Nordtveit (for Snodgrass, 81 mins) 6, Jonathan Calleri (for Ayew, 90 mins) 6.
