LeBron James Officially Signs With The Lakers

Following the Los Angeles Lakers' addition of All-Star forward LeBron James shortly after the start of free agency, there have been many questions about the various signings the team has made with regards to whether James was notified about them.

LeBron James #23 of the Cleveland Cavaliers celebrates with the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy after defeating the Golden State Warriors 93-89 in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals at ORACLE Arena on June 19, 2016 in Oakland, California.

There's no question signing James makes Los Angeles much better.

"This is a historic moment for the Lakers, and we could not feel more grateful and honored,"Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka said".

"When LeBron James - a continuing MVP and National Basketball Association champion, who is playing at the highest levels of his career - chooses to join the Lakers, that represents the most important confirmation of what we are building here".

The Lakers signed James, Stephenson, Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee and re-signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to go with a young core that includes Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart.

"We all know that the work is not yet done".

Free agents could begin signing their new contracts this past Friday.

James is not expected to attend, however, and is not expected to speak publicly about his decision until a charity event in OH later this month.

"I think they considered us very strongly", Harris said Monday at the Las Vegas Summer League, via ESPN.

James, 33, has averaged 27.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game in 1,143 career contests. Last season was his first in which he played in all 82 regular-season games, and the eighth in a row in which his team advanced to the NBA Finals (four in Miami before each of the past four seasons in Cleveland).
