LB Anthony Barr backs out on Jets deal, will stay with Vikings

The 26-year-old's five-year deal has a base value of $67.5 million, and it could be worth up to $77.5 million with incentives, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Here are eight that qualify. Barr will receive $33 million in guarantees. The extent to which you believe any of this can be corrected with the switch from Cam Newton to Andrew Luck is all relative, but based on his tape with the Panthers and going back to his days at MI, this is a bit of a head-scratcher.

Barr made 55 tackles, including three sacks, in 13 games last season, when he played on a $12.3 million team option.

Almost 15 years later, the Vikings are socking it to the Jets again.

Barr was the Jets' top pass-rushing target, and a player they expressed interest in dating back to the combine.

The final terms of Barr's contract with the Jets was obviously never disclosed because he didn't actually sign the contract. Jordan verbally agreed to terms on a deal with Dallas before returning to Los Angeles.

Barr was the No. 9 overall pick of Minnesota in 2014.

After Barr verbally agreed to the Jets, the Vikings "sweetened their offer" Monday night to get him to stay. While Barr earned four-straight Pro Bowl invitations as an off-ball.

In six seasons, Richardson has 23 ½ sacks and 195 tackles in 87 games. Barr could not build on that pace in 2016, when he struggled to a 50.5 grade (87th among linebackers), and while he improved in 2017 (63.7 grade) and 2018 (71.4), he was never as productive or healthy as he was during his 2015 breakout campaign, likely making Minnesota' decision to let him go an easier one.

"It's been a insane couple days, but I'm where I want to be", Barr wrote on his Instagram page. The Vikings talked with Murphy again at the combine, though the agent informed the Vikings that Barr wanted to test out his market in the NFL's negotiating window that opened on Monday.
