Kyler Murray, who Dolphins could select in draft

On Monday afternoon, Murray posted a message on Twitter stating he was choosing football over baseball.

Murray officially announced he is focusing on becoming an National Football League quarterback on Monday, and has quickly moved on to the next step: Hiring an agent.

With Murray's decision, NFL teams will now enter the draft with the knowledge that he's completely committed to football.

That shuts the door on the possibility he will play for the Oakland Athletics, who made him the No. 9 overall pick in last June's Major League Baseball draft.

With Kyler Murray officially committing to professional football on Monday, rumors are circulating that the Arizona Cardinals will target the quarterback in April's draft, especially after new head coach Kliff Kingsbury said past year that he'd select Murray No. 1 overall if given the opportunity.

Murray has the potential to be the first athlete ever chosen in the first round of the MLB Draft and the NFL Draft in the same 12-month span. Murray is projected to be a first-round or second-round pick in the NFL Draft this spring.

Murray was given a $4.66m (£3.62m) signing-on bonus by the A's.

Burkhardt also represents Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who said last fall when he was the coach at Texas Tech that he would take Murray if he had the No. 1 overall pick.

What do you think of his decision? The team sought out a coach that would transform Rosen to be the team's quarterback of the future. I've never seen one better in high school and he's starting to show it now at the college level.

Murray, who won the 2018 Heisman Trophy has been linked to the Dolphins as ESPN's Todd McShay the team selecting Murray at pick No. 13 overall. He is a football quarterback and is eligible for this year's NFL draft, which starts April 25.

"Yes, the risk is apparent - Murray is undersized at 5-foot-10 and still hasn't decided on his baseball career", McShay wrote.

How would the Broncos look if they drafted Murray? Nevertheless, his talents, which were on full display as he racked up over 5,000 total yards and 50 touchdowns in his one season as Oklahoma's starter, might be enough to convince another team to trade up to get him.

The Texan recorded 4,361 passing yards and 1,001 rushing yards with 54 touchdowns in 14 games in his final season with the Oklahoma Sooners previous year.
