Kodak Ektra, camera-centric smartphone launched in India, available exclusively on Flipkart

Kodak, the once camera giant has launched the camera-centric Ektra smartphone today in India. The KODAK EKTRA Smartphone fuses the best of Kodak's rich history in imaging with the latest innovations in smartphone photography. The smartphone runs Android Marshmallow as OS.The phone also comes with an editing software from Snapspeed.

The Kodak Ektra smartphone is already available in the U.S. and Europe and has 21-megapixel fast-focus camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture as well as 13-megapixel front-facing camera with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and f2.2 aperture.

Kodak, the iconic photography brand, has launched a new smartphone, aimed at enthusiasts and shutterbugs. Front camera comes with f/2.2 aperture and phase detection autofocus.

Kodak Ektra smartphone will only be available on Flipkart to buy. The Ektra was first showcased in October a year ago and was focused at users looking for advanced photography features from a smartphone camera. The phone has got a 21 megapixel primary camera and 12 megapixel front camera.

The Kodak Ektra smartphone's camera User Interface (UI) comes with a DSLR-like Scene Selection Dial that allows photographers to access different shooting modes like HDR, Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Macro, Night-time, Panorama and Bokeh mode, alongside a Smart Auto mode which auto-selects the best conditions for your photographs. In terms of memory, the Kodak Ektra is backed up by a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. The rear camera supports advanced manual controls in the phone like ISO, focal length, shutter speed and white balance.

Specification wise the Kodak Ektra comes with 5.5 inch screen and is powered by MediaTek Helio X20 2.3 GHz decacore processor. This is achieved by the use of Kodak-certified lens coating that enables more light to reach the sensor without increasing ISO noise, brightening underexposed areas and stabilising blur from slow shutter speeds. The package is powered by a 3,000mAh battery with USB 3.0 Type-C fast charging.

At such a high price tag, the device comes with below par specifications but serves its main objective as a camera-centric device.
