Kliff Kingsbury, Cardinals Could Draft Kyler Murray #1 Overall, Trade Josh Rosen

Miami will have the No. 13 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Murray will not play both football and baseball in 2019, and one naturally would expect that the higher he goes in the NFL draft, the more likely he is to pursue a career in football over one with the A's, who picked him in the first round of the MLB draft a year ago.

After posting a 3-13 record in 2018, the Cardinals own the top pick in April's draft and Kingsbury will be part of that decision after being hired as Arizona's head coach this week. "I've followed him since he was a sophomore in high school and just think the world of him and what he can do on a football field". However, with the league full of teams starving for a franchise quarterback, it is likely Murray will be a first-round pick considering how he performed at the University of Oklahoma.

Kingsbury now has the chance to put his money where his mouth is. Certainly, there are more than pure financial considerations at play, but assuming he's a first-round selection in the National Football League draft, Murray can look at Jackson's near-$9.5MM guarantee as a rough baseline for what he'd be promised. After all, that's what Kingsbury said he'd do.

That's assuming they can convince Murray to leave baseball behind.

Can it get worse for the Cardinals?

The Patriots might just be one of the highest bidders. "I would take him with the first pick". And if we're to believe ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cardinals could actually be open to trading Rosen - who they drafted 10th overall a year ago - in order to take Murray with the first overall pick in the draft. However, a porous offensive line did not help Rosen's cause, as he was one of five quarterbacks to be sacked on more than 10 percent of dropbacks. He was touted to be the most pro-ready prospect in draft which featured Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, Sam Darnold and Lamar Jackson.

Texas Tech showed continued interest in Murray and offered him a scholarship once Kingsbury came aboard. Thursday morning and floated the possibility of the Cardinals actually trading Rosen and selecting Kyler Murray.
