Kevin Garnett: Timberwolves Situation a 'Sh*t Storm'

The first incarnation of the trade reportedly featured Gorgui Dieng, who the Heat were reluctant to take back due to his massive contract that spans until 2021.

The Miami Heat really want to make a trade for Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler, and from the sounds of things, Butler really would like to play for the Heat. The medicals were exchanged, which, really, generally in the National Basketball Association means this is a done deal. They were giving them Josh Richardson, then Dion Waiters was going to be the cap filler and then a protected first-round pick.

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks. Man, I was a damn Tasmanian devil", Garnett told The Athletic in a phone interview.

"Danny Ainge needs to shut the up and manage his own team". "He was the biggest whiner going when he was playing and I know that because I coached against him".

Yahoo Sports has also reported that the Timberwolves had an all player meeting yesterday when they found out that practice was supposedly cancelled.

A Heat source indicated Thursday the organization is ready to move on if need be after the Timberwolves rejected its offer.

This event shows a clear rift between these two teams, with the enormous pressure on the Timberwolves side to get a deal done continuing to cause issues within the organization.

The Timberwolves have had talks with several teams.

Butler will be a free agent at the end of the season and would be eligible to sign a five-year deal with Minnesota at that point.

According to a report from ESPN, the Miami Heat were very close to landing the disgruntled four-time All-Star in a blockbuster trade over the weekend - but an additional request from the Timberwolves caused the deal to fall through.

Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters after a morning shootaround that Butler remained in Minneapolis to "work on his conditioning".
