'Kedarnath' not be screened in Uttarakhand

Whether releated to brawl in the making team to the Uttarkhand government banning its release in the state, over and out from this Kedarnath gets its path and is at the ticket counters finally.

Swami Darshan Bharti of Garhwal had demanded that the film should be banned. There has been much hype around the film as it is Sara's debut, and the starlet has quite an astounding fan-following, even before her debut film had released. Gujarat High Court called the petition a publicity stunt and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the petitioner Prakash Rajput, president of International Hindu Sena.

"Our committee has forwarded our advice to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and decided that law and order should be reviewed". The movie, set in the backdrop of the June 2013 natural tragedy that killed thousands of pilgrims in the temple town of Kedarnath, was released countrywide on 7 December.

Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj on Friday said screening of Hindi film Kedarnath has been stopped across the state, a day after the state High Court dismissed a plea seeking to ban the movie. Previously, the Supreme Court came down heavily on individual states against opting for a blanket ban across states according to the whims of state governments. We are not the censor board.

The districts where the film has been banned include Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri, Tehri and Almora, the ADG said. Also, the film has two weeks for itself till Zero arrives.

However, the Tourism Minister today morning informed that the film has been banned in Uttarakhand claiming that it "hurts the religious sentiments of many people". He asserted it was nothing but "love jihad" and a country-wide conspiracy.
