Jurgen Klopp Finally Speaks About Karius' Champions League Final Concussion

Back at Liverpool's Melwood headquarters for pre-season training, Klopp opened up about the aftermath of the final and the impact a collision with Sergio Ramos had on the goalkeeper.

"So from my side everything is fine".

Loris Karius, the target of widespread criticism for his role in last season's Champions League final defeat, also played 45 minutes in a match that saw Daniel Sturridge score twice. "He called me and said he came from a doctor, he told me: 'Your goalkeeper had a concussion'".

"Whoever had a concussion knows there is not one way how it feels, there are different ways".

"He was influenced by that knock, that is 100 per cent".

"If you ask Loris, he says he didn't think about it and didn't use it for a second as an excuse". I have to make sure I use that chance.

The Reds began their fixture schedule with a 7-0 win at Chester FC and are quickly back in action at Prenton Park, with kick-off at 7.30pm BST and our build-up starting an hour earlier.

Goalkeeper is an area which fans want strengthening but Klopp seems set to continue with Loris Karius, who made two costly mistakes in the Champions League final even though it was later revealed he was suffering from concussion. It's really not important what the people say.

While some of Liverpool's squad were involved in World Cup action at the weekend, 22 of Liverpool's players enjoyed their first warm up game in the Cheshire sunshine. That was, for me, the explanation and I thought: 'OK, come on, we need to check that'. We do not use it as an excuse.

A further six caps followed but now a Championship loan could be in the offing for Woodburn, however Klopp wants to assess his progress and needs some of his younger players during pre-season while some of the club's worldwide stars recover from World Cup duty.

Their discussion prompted Klopp to look into the prospect that his No 1's display had been affected and Karius was flown to Boston for tests at Massachusetts General Hospital, where the concussion was confirmed.

"The easy thing to do is put a cross through his name and bin him but you have to remember he took Liverpool to the Champions League final".
