JR Smith Is 'Frustrated' After Being Replaced By Dwyane Wade

On Monday, Lue announced that Wade, the 12-time All-Star who signed as a free agent September 27, would start at shooting guard instead of Smith.

As you can tell, Smith isn't the biggest fan of losing his starting role, but it's not all bad news according to J.R.

"Was pretty much bracing myself for it", said Smith, who compared what happened with Wade to a situation he experienced with the New York Knicks.

"Was working hard all summer and then coming in and not even really having a chance to earn my spot, but it's all right", he said. Besides, they both know what they've been a part of over the past three seasons, and no one can take that away from them. "It wasn't the most positive conversation, but we talked about it and we'll get through it together".

Before Dwyane Wade and Derrick Rose signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers to join forces with LeBron James, Rose confirmed he tried to lure Wade, James and Chris Bosh to the Windy City to play with the Chicago Bulls in 2010.

"Me and J.R., we know what we've brought to this team, what we've done the last three years, being in three Finals", said Thompson.

"It's not about who starts or who comes off the bench, it's about who all can make sacrifices to win a championship". Still, if Smith and Thompson can practice what they preach and put their egos aside for the betterment of the team, the 2017-18 Cavaliers could be a truly special team.

Rose said he is unaware of whether James, Wade and Bosh ever saw the video.

Now on the second unit, he might find the ball in his hands a bit more. "Everyone would love to start but J.R.is in a position where he feels he wants to do whatever is best for the team".

At times last season, Lue would have Irving play a similar role by starting at point guard, coming out of the game with around four minutes remaining in the first quarter and then coming back in at point guard with the second unit to start the second quarter. If somebody smaller is guarding D Wade, we're going to play through D Wade. "Next time you've got to pay me, you've got to pay me double, so it's fine with me". "We knew that. We just made a decision that was better for us".
