Jose Mourinho: 'Ajax should not even be in the Europa League'

Craig Burley and Mark Donaldson predict how this year's top six will fare in the Premier League next season.

Asked if his academy players are ready, Mourinho replied: 'All together? No.

"If, in the next transfer window, we manage to be successful, I think we can (challenge for the title)".

"Fosu-Mensah plays Sunday and if the reaction is good then he is a new option for the final".

Following United's goalless draw at Southampton on Wednesday, Mourinho said the Palace match should have been brought forward at least a day to give his side the best chance against Ajax.

"It's the only positive thing".

However, Mourinho has confirmed he will pad the rest of the squad out with youth players, using the final game of the season as an opportunity for them to gain Premier League experience.

"Now with the confidence that Jose gives me and the confidence the players give me and the confidence I have this is very important and I will try and do my best for all, for the team".

"We will have Demi Mitchell, Scott McTominay, Josh Harrop, Matty Willock, Angel Gomes, Zachary Dearnley, I think that is it".

"To play so many at the same time is not good against a team of experienced and strong players like Palace has".

"And we had four big injuries with surgeries that reduced immediately the number of players". So many at the same time, they need my support.

However, Paul Pogba will play after returning to duty following a period of bereavement leave after the death last week of his father.

Joel Pereira is poised to make his first senior start for Manchester United on Sunday and the young goalkeeper is determined to live up to his manager's expectations. Strong guy. Strong mentality.

Marouane Fellaini is having a hamstring injury assessed, while Chris Smalling is set to be fit for Wednesday's final despite a "small problem" keeping him out against Palace.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcos Rojo, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Ashley Young and Luke Shaw are definitely out.

The Portuguese also spoke of the "unbelievable" fixture schedule and took aim at those that "like to lie" about United's situation.

Mourinho said: "The problem is the price tag on his back".
