"John Wick" TV Series "The Continental" Lands at Starz

"You can expect to see him at some point", Starz President of original programming Carmi Zlotnik said. "That is part of the ongoing discussion".

Reeves also discussed the differences between John Wick and John Wick: Chapter 2 and said that the second installment featured more places, unlike the first film.

For ages now we've been given films based on TV series and TV series based on films - all, of course, of varying success, but there have been some good'uns. But Russian thugs killed the dog and took his vehicle, setting him on a killing spree that had the underground once again whispering of Baba Yaga, the boogeyman, and attempts to keep John Wick far away from any pencils. "There'll be no conflict".

However, Albrecht stressed that "this show is not created to have him in the lead".

Ties between the studio and premium cabler have strengthened following the acquisition of Starz by Lionsgate in late 2016.

The news comes fresh out of the TCAs on Friday, which indicates a very healthy and synergetic relationship between Lionsgate and Starz. "The Continental is set in John Wick's universe".

"This series is truly unlike anything else on TV". "This is a chance to engage with the phenomenal fanbase ..." Reeves will also serve as one of the show's producers. The Continental will explore the inner workings of the Continental hotel. Chris Collins (Sons of Anarchy, The Wire, The Man in the High Castle) is on board as the series' writer and showrunner.

The hype of director Chad Stahelski's John Wick: Chapter 2 had led to talks of a third installment well before the film's successful release, and now, Stahelski, with support from Starz and Lionsgate, will try to recreate that success with The Continental.

Reeves, however, will executive produce along with Thunder Road Pictures' Basil Iwanyk (who exec produced the franchise films) according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the press release, Albrecht gave an additional quote that confirmed the John Wick level of action would continue in the series.
