Jets to name Adam Gase new coach and social media blows up

The New York Jets will reportedly hire former Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase.

In fact, he is ecstatic to work with his new head coach. "I think it tells you where they're at". Joseph spent time in Cincinnati as a positional coach before being a coordinator in Miami and head coach in Denver.

A head coach and quarterback are tied together automatically, and in New York Gase will inherit a promising young signal caller in Sam Darnold.

Gase previously served as the offensive coordinator with the Broncos and Bears. That's understandable to a point, but when you consider the extent to which that same front office, led by general manager Mike Maccagnan, has botched drafts and free agency moves over the last few seasons, this could be more about the guys up top retaining control than doing what's best for the team. His teams went 5-1 against the Jets. But the team struggled the following year, going 6-10 with quarterback Ryan Tannehill sidelined all season following knee surgery. It also reported that Manning called Johnson Tuesday night to provide a sparkling reference for Gase.

"Coach Gase has done wonderful things not with just quarterbacks, but offense in general", Darnold said.

The Dolphins dismissed Gase after three seasons.

Darnold realizes that part of Gase's resume, and he doesn't see why he can't be added to it as well. He's the Jets' first hire with previous full-time National Football League head coaching experience since Bill Parcells' three-year tenure from 1997-99.

"I think he has a great mind for offensive football".

In his rookie year, Darnold threw for 2,865 yards, 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 13 games. McCarthy had been fired with four games left in the season after a poor start but is still on contract until 2019 where he is slated to make $8 million.
