James Franco "In Really Bad Place" Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Metro.co.uk have contacted reps for James Franco for comment.

"It comes after the star was the subject of several "#MeToo" tweets during the Golden Globes last weekend, where he picked up the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his performance in "The Disaster Artist".

Franco also is nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award for the role at a January 21 ceremony in Los Angeles.

Five women have accused James Franco of sexual misconduct or inappropriate behaviour.

The Los Angeles Times published an expose, where four of his students came forward. She alleges that during the scene, Franco removed the plastic guard covering the other women's genitals before simulating oral sex.

"Hey James Franco, nice Times Up pin at the Golden Globes", actress Sarah Tither-Kaplan wrote, describing how Franco had exploited her after she agreed to appear nude in two of his movies.

A former girlfriend of Franco, Violet Paley, also alleged that she was pressured into performing oral sex in a auto.

After an allegation of sexual misconduct circulated on social media about James Franco, the actor told late-night host Stephen Colbert that the "the things I heard on Twitter are not accurate". She said she pretended to see a stranger walking past in order to stop what was happening.

Franco's attorney, Michael Plonsker, told The LA Times that he disputed all the women's allegations in the article. Franco told The Late Show he had "no idea" why she said that. They claimed Franco asked for volunteers to take their tops off and was upset that no one agreed. When Meyers asked whether he wasn't curious enough to reach out to the actress, Franco said, "It was so shocking, I don't know, I guess I'm just letting it be". The video was uploaded to Vimeo and later put on a pornography website, Tither-Kaplan said.

"I was talking to him, all of a sudden his penis was out", said Paley.

Franco - whose decision to wear the Times's Up pin was also blasted by Tither-Kaplan in a series of now-deleted tweets - explained: "Look, in my life I pride myself on taking responsibility for things that I have done".

On Wednesday night, Franco appeared on NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers and the actor discussed some of those allegations.

"I feel frightful that anyone was made to feel uncomfortable but we went to great lengths to make sure all the actresses in the nude scenes felt comfortable and safe".

"The things that I heard that were on Twitter are not accurate", he said.

"I'm here to listen and learn and change my perspective where it's off, and I'm completely willing and want to".
