Indian Doctor stabbed to death, patient arrested

An Indian-origin doctor, hailing from Telangana, was stabbed to death near his clinic in Kansas city of the United States.

Dr. Achutha Reddy, 57, was killed in the attack Wednesday evening at the Holistic Psychiatry Services clinic in Wichita.

Police said that the attacker chased the doctor, as the attack began in his clinic and ended in a nearby lane, and stabbed him multiple times before killing him. About 17 minutes after the first call to report Reddy's death, the department received a call from a security guard at the Wichita Country Club, reporting a young male sitting in a vehicle with blood all over his body.

"It's very very painful thing for me because he was very energetic and lively, and he uses to entertain everyone, and whenever somebody had something he would give some advice or some treatment because he was practicing physical and mental medicine also", says Dr. Sudershan Reddy, Dr. Achutha's brother-in-law.

The doctor, who has not yet been identified, was found outside the business in a back parking lot, Seiler said.

Dutt was reportedly a patient of Dr Achutha Reddy.

"After going to an office, a disturbance was heard".

Fellow doctors and community members termed his death as a tragic loss. Graduating high school in 2014, he spent a few semesters at Wichita State University but didn't graduate. He later moved to the USA, where he completed his residency in psychiatry from the University of Kansas Medical School in Wichita. The newspaper quoted Brenda Trammel, a psychotherapist at his clinic, as saying: "Reddy was an wonderful, compassionate man who was kind and loving to anyone he met". "Yesterday, we experienced a great loss in our lives", wrote psychotherapist Brenda Trammel. "His mom would walk by and see that maybe he wasn't paying attention so she would be like "Umar, you need to focus, you need to really care about your education", Schrader was quoted as saying.

The Indian American community in Wichita has expressed shock over incident. It may be recalled that Telugu aeronautical engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot dead in Kansas in February this year.
