Hyderabad: Man held on charges of raping woman inside theatre

The 19-year-old girl went to watch Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat at Pransanth theatre with 23-year-old Kandakatla Bikshapathi.

A similar incident was reported from Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) where a 16-year-old girl was gangraped in a movie theatre two months back.

Commenting on the matter, the investigating police officer said that the accused met survivor through social media platform, Facebook, a few months ago.

In a heinous incident which took place in a theater, a man raped his beloved while watching the movie.

As per a report by TOI, the accused and the victim had met at Swathi Hotel near Secunderabad railway station around 20 days ago. They went to watch the film Padmaavat in Prashanth Theatre when she was allegedly sexually assaulted. "Later, inside the theatre, he raped her by luring her with fake promise of marriage", the report quoted inspector M Mattaiah as saying.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victim that she was raped inside the theatre on Monday, a rape case was registered against Bikshapathi before arresting him, the police said. Also, the entire seats near them were empty. The man has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. As per reports, the Hyderabad police has arrested the accused.
