HTC U11 Announced: Comes With Amazon's Alexa, Squeezable Frame & 12MP Camera

HTC at the launch event also confirmed that the phone will be launched in India in June and it will come in only one variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Give the edges of the phone a little squeeze, and you can perform actions like launching the camera, taking a photo, or opening Google Assistant (or Alexa, which is also on board). Four microphones surround the device in what the firm calls "3D audio" to offer clear voice recording.

The U11 has a 12MP UltraPixel 3 camera with five-axis image stabilisation, dual pixel auto focus technology and the best-ever HDR processing technology in a smartphone.

Another unique aspect of the new U11 is that it has a 16 megapixel selfie camera at the front.

Currently, it is available in Sapphire Blue, Ice White, Solar Red, Brilliant Black and Amazing Silver.

The HTC U11 comes with with HTC Edge Sense with pressure sensing bezels and HTC Sense Companion AI.

Nigel Newby-House, the vice president of product planning for HTC America, says that "this is just the first glimpse into future functionality for Edge Sense" and the company will expand the feature in the future. Interestingly, the handset will be listening for both "OK Google", and "Alexa", as the handset will be able to work with both voice assistants at the same time.

HTC has named Sprint the exclusive launch partner for the U11 in the US.

To mark the 20th anniversary of HTC's life as a technology company, the brand has launched the new HTC U11.

In terms of overall design, the new HTC smartphone is pretty sleek with clean metallic backplate, an improvement from the basic design of the outgoing HTC 10, as per report from The Verge. HTC claims that U11 has the highest rated smartphone camera, with a DXOMark of 90. Like the U Ultra the U 11 has curved glass on the front and back and once again there is no headphone jack. Connectivity options include GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, USB 3.1 Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz & 5GHz), and NFC support. A few days ago, the complete specs sheet of the flagship phone has also been leaked which shows 5.5-inch full HD display onboard, and is further protected by a Gorilla Glass 5.
