Hero rail worker drags suicidal woman from path of train in China

The man grabbed the woman just before she was about to jump.

Surveillance footage shows the moment a railway worker saves a suicidal woman just seconds before a train passes through.

A member of train station staff in Xianyou, Fujian Province had to think quick to save a woman from being hit by a train on Wednesday.

Once the train passed other nearby people came in to calm the girl and one particular man on the platform was seen running towards the scene to help rescue the girl from taking such a drastic step. Mr Weng, however, injured his head when he fell to the ground as he struggled to pull her back. She was later taken to a hospital but is said to have suffered no serious injuries.

Weng reportedly received 6,000 Chinese yuan (£675) as reward for his act of bravery.

A major health concern, suicides are increasing at an unbelievable rate all across the world.

Reports claim that the railway worker Mr Jianzhong had noticed that this woman was in a low mood earlier and had since paid particular attention to her on the platform.

On the floor, he manages to pull her back further and out of the train's way. Visit Samaritans.org or call 116 123 (UK) or 116 123 (ROI), 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
