Half-Billion Windows 10 Devices, But PC Slump Stunts Growth

So, discussions during the Build 2017 main keynote primarily ranged from Microsoft's artificial intelligence efforts to talk about its growing Windows 10 user base. Here's what Microsoft announced on the day one of the Build conference, which is now happening in Seattle. That metric includes not only Windows 10 installed on PCs, tablets, and phones, but also on Xbox One consoles, HoloLens, and Surface Hub devices. At Microsoft Build 2017 we invite you to join us in downtown Seattle to learn about latest new technologies and exciting plans on the horizon. In fact, if you head over to What's new in OneNote for Windows 10, it says that the difference between the desktop and UWP apps is that the UWP app is regularly updated with new features.

Microsoft has already acknowledged it won't hit 1 billion in time. Unfortunately, details aren't available about the smart speaker.

Announced at the Build conference was the new Cortana Skills set, which will allow third-party developers to create new skills - or even port existing Alexa skills for the Windows platform. This should drastically improve Cortana and make any upcoming Cortana hardware more useful. Essentially, the translator plugin will offer real-time translation of powerpoint presentations without removing the original formatting. Previously it was available for preview.

In another move that is bound to get developers salivating, Microsoft launched its Visual Studio coding platform for Mac.

It allows developers to code apps using Microsoft's development environment on Apple's MacOS platform.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella speaks at Microsoft's annual shareholders meeting. The mobile app will come with support for new Azure Cloud Shell. All Windows Store content is certified by Microsoft to help ensure a quality experience and keep your devices safer.
