There are reasons to believe March 22 could be legit: all four core games in the series have released in March; in fact, the first God of War released on March 22, 2005. While there have been some hints regarding when players can expect to get their hands on the game, it looks like the PlayStation Store may have accidentally revealed the game's release date.
Sony has been treating us with trailers and other tidbits for the past year but we're still waiting to know when we can officially play the game. Spotted by the one and only Wario64 on Twitter, the US PlayStation Store originally had the game listed for a March 22, 2018 release date.
Update: I just confirmed that the North American PlayStation Store is also showing the same date.
Looking back at the God of War series as a whole, a March 22 release date does make a lot of sense.
Are you excited about the new God of War next year? The release date announcement could define all that Santa Monica Studio brings for its gamers. Apart from this game, other releases are Days Gone, The Last of Us Part 2, and Spider-man.
God of War is aiming for a new direction, taking on Norse mythology, running with a new voice actor and adding an entirely new gameplay dynamic to the previously thick and fast hack and slash action. All three of the mainline God of War games plus God of War: Ascension launched in March, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Sony stick with that month for the new God of War.
