Fortnite Playground Mode Is Going Away Soon, Here's When And Why

A message sent from the official Fortnite Twitch channel has confirmed that the popular Playground mode will be a permanent addition to the game, not simply a Limited Time Mode.

Do not despair. Playground will return with some minor changes and tweaks, although there's no mention of making structures or creations permanent.

However, some fans may be interested to learn that Playground is apparently just the "first step" into a "full creative mode" in Fortnite. At its core, the mode is a private space where up to four players can interact independently of others.

While it's now finally active and working as intended, it is a limited time mode, and as such won't be in rotation forever. You can spend all that time then safely practicing with the weapons, getting a feel for the map, figuring out Fortnite's tricky construction mechanics, or just goofing off. Playground mode has sparked a creativity in players that recalls Fortnite's Minecraft roots. However, it is definitely coming back at some unplanned point in the future, and we know what it will look like when it does.

The feedback to this news has been mostly positive online, with fans sharing their thoughts on the LTM.

The game mode was originally added on June 27 with the v4.5 update, but it was quickly removed after a slew of matchmaking issues were uncovered. It allows players to explore the map and play around with up to three friends, free from the risk of being eliminated by other people. Well, aside from the upcoming Fortnite Playground v2 mode, which promises improvements and changes that will make for even more fun.
