Former WWE star Rosey, brother of Roman Reigns, dies at 47

The WWE announced Tuesday that 6-foot-4 former wrestler Matt Anoa'i, known to fans as Rosey, has died at 47.

He debuted in 2002 alongside his cousin Jamal as part of 3-Minute Warning.

During his tenure with the WWE Rosey became a bodyguard figure to the then RAW general manager Eric Bischoff. Since the news broke, numerous past and present WWE superstars who worked with Anoa'i have taken to social media to express their condolences, while his family released a statement to WWE asking for privacy and also letting the fans know just how much they meant to Anoa'i. Rosey has left behind three children. "Please respect the privacy of his children and family as they mourn the loss of this kind, loving, gentle man, who was a father, son, brother and a superhero to us all", they continued.

The statement continued, "Our family appreciates your prayers and continued support during this very hard time".

A part of the legendary Anoa'i wrestling family, he followed in the footsteps of his father Sika and uncle Afa, the Wild Samoans, and cousins Yokozuna (Rodney Anoa'i), Rikishi (Solofa Anoa'i), and the Tonga Kid (Sam Fatu).

What are some of your favorite memories of Rosey?

A cause of death was not given.

Davey Boy Smith, AKA The British Bulldog: On May 18, 2002 Smith suffered a heart attack while on vacation with his girlfriend.

Rosey was a huge man, his billed weight as a wrestler was over 430 pounds. In 2007, Anoa'i was a contestant on the ABC reality series "Fat March". No word yet on what led to the former WWE Tag Team Champion passing but he was due to hospitalized due to congestive heart failure back in 2014.

So sad to hear about the passing of Rosey. Roman Reigns is feeling this pain most of all because Rosey was his older brother and nothing can take the pain out of these moments.

Anoa'i had three children: Jordan, Koa, and Madison.
