The 49ers released the typical statement teams release when a player is arrested: "The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Reuben Foster and we are now gathering all relevant facts". Foster is now subject to league discipline for the marijuana charge.
In order to draft Foster, the 49ers dealt their second-round pick (No. 34 overall) and a fourth-rounder acquired from the Chicago Bears earlier on draft night (No. 111 overall) to the Seattle Seahawks for pick No. 31.
When Lynch was directly asked about the diluted sample, he made it clear he was not concerned. Foster had his draft party sponsored by a vaporizer company. It sure sounded like he had a long day, which you can imagine. "But I feel really good not only because we got a great player, because I think we're going to have a great plan for the young man both on the field and we care about the kid".
He played in 10 games for San Francisco in 2017, recording 72 tackles. He suffered an ankle injury during Week 1, which forced him to miss the next five games.
