England's Harry Kane misses out on golden shot at World Cup title

"It's incredible because I was one of those kids growing up who wanted to play for England so to be here now, leading this team out, I'm so proud".

Lawro was speaking to BBC Sport's Chris Bevan in Moscow. 'I'm saying centre forward, I'm not saying the best player, I'm not saying he's Messi, Ronaldo whatever, but as an out and out striker, the leader of the line.

As the tournament reaches its final three games, fans are not only starting to wonder about who will bring home the World Cup trophy, but who will take home the tournament's five other awards.

They kind of rotate around him, and the Chelsea striker offers the added bonus of being good at defending set-pieces.

"A lot of us weren't even born when that was happening", said the 24-year-old Kane.

"I said before the game, the winners of this game will be the losers".

It is the first time since 1998 that the nation of just over four million people have reached this stage of the competition, after they eliminated Russian Federation in a penalty shoot-out at the weekend.

Lovren said that Croatia would not feel any ill-effects after being taken to extra-time in both of their knockout matches against Denmark and Russian Federation.

"Look at the players - the smallest is about 6'3, so it will be a challenge".

I just have a feeling that England will find a way to win.

Lovren has been a rock for Croatia at the World Cup and did not want to dwell on the memories of his performance for Liverpool against Tottenham where he was substituted after 31 minutes in a 4-1 defeat.

"[Croatia] will be tough but I think we're going to get through".
